Brushing tire oil after car wash can "maintenance" tires? Front-wheel drive, the front tires are more important than the rear tires... These are the correct truths that many old drivers think are actually wrong. Recently, Michelin held a tire safety seminar in Chongqing. Product engineers corrected many misunderstandings during tire use.

Misunderstanding 1: Brushing tire oil after car wash can "maintain" tires

Correct: Do not use tire oil that is not trustworthy.

After the car wash, some car wash shops usually provide an additional service: Apply a layer of tire oil to the car tires. Such additional services are free, and certainly do better than not, many drivers think so. The car wash shop workers also said that the application of tire oil is a protective film on the tires, not allowing sun damage. In fact, dirty oils contain a variety of chemicals that come in contact with the tire rubber and can corrode the tire's rubber and damage the tire. In street-side car wash shops, there is seldom a good quality tire oil that can be used for free services, but it will accelerate tire aging.

Suggestions: 1. When parking, try to place the car in a cool place. This can not only reduce the aging of the leather seats in the car, but also reduce the speed of aging. 2. Do not use tire oil to “maintain” the tire after car washing. Also do not allow corrosive chemicals to come in contact with the tire.

Myth # 2: Fore-wheel drive, front tire is more important than rear tire

Correct: Regardless of the pre-drive, the grip of the rear tire must be better.

There is an old driver who believes that the front tire of the front-wheel drive is more important than the rear tire because the drive will take more friction. Previously, Michelin made a device on the Renault XM2 listed test drive, which was to use a bearing device mounted on the two rear tires of the car, so that the rear tire loses grip. In this case, the car is very easy to turn. When the tail is reached, if the speed of the driver is more than 30 yards, he will not be able to control the steering of the car and it will be dangerous. When replacing tires, if only one pair is replaced, the new tire must be mounted on the rear axle of the vehicle. If only one tire is replaced, the new tire must be close to the depth of the other tread groove on the same axis, otherwise it may cause vehicle deviation or mechanical problems.

Recommendation: Be sure to place the deepest tire or new tire on the rear axle of the vehicle.
