An employee of a factory stated that “For the recovery of the production line, the company has taken corresponding measures internally; but we cannot start with external factors such as infrastructure, and we only hope that the country can issue appropriate countermeasures as soon as possible.”

According to "The Fastening Journal", production facilities have been damaged, warehouse racks have collapsed, cracks have appeared in the walls, and glass windows have also been destroyed in varying degrees, in factories in Ibaraki Prefecture and central Tochigi Prefecture that are located far away from the source. However, fortunately, there were no casualties.

However, factories close to the coast suffered severe losses due to the impact of the tsunami. According to eyewitnesses, “The factory is flooded with more than 1 meter, and employees must climb onto the roof or take refuge on the second floor.” Some companies have to relocate their production to factories in other regions because they take longer to resume production. In addition, serious situations such as the collapse of the ceiling, the collapse of the wall, and the unclear whereabouts of the employee’s family members have also emerged.

In general, the production of Japanese fastener companies is rapidly recovering, but the problems between production and supply have still not been resolved, especially the problems of infrastructure and logistics. In addition, the unstable supply of electricity and drinking water, the shortage of gasoline supply, and the solution to road conditions are still unknown.
