Recently, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marine Machinery and Engine Co., Ltd. (MHI-MME) has received orders for four UEC33LSE-C2 low-speed diesel engines. Two of the diesel engines were ordered by Changhang Heavy Industry Qingshan Shipyard, and the other two were ordered by Fujian Mawei Shipbuilding. In addition, two alternative engines are being negotiated with the shipowner.
These engines will be installed on a 7499 dwt asphalt carrier ordered by Xinyuan Group (Hong Kong) Co., Ltd. The first asphalt carrier will be operational in October 2016.
It is reported that the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries UEC33LSE engine is optimized for all types of ships (including bulk carriers, chemical tankers, cement carriers, domestic ferries and small container ships) of less than 30,000 deadweight tons to meet future Tier regulations.
The first UEC33LSE diesel engine was built by Akasaka Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. and was installed in a 11,500 dwt chemical tanker built in North Japan in November 2014.
