"Harm" from Takada Volkswagen recalls more than 4.8 million cars in China

Recently, Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd., FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd., and SAIC-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. have filed a recall plan with the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection, and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China on the requirements of the "Regulations on the Management of Defective Automobile Products Recall". On the 12th of this month, the following vehicles were successively recalled in batches, totaling 4,860,029 vehicles.

(a) Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd. (103,573 vehicles in total):

Some of the imports from the period of September 14th to June 14th, 2012, were imported from 2012 to 2013 and 2,713 were sold.

From February 6, 2013 to July 11, 2013, some imported Alhambra cars of 2013-2014 were imported, totaling 447 cars;

From January 15, 2014 to October 31, 2014, some of the imported 2014-2015 models of the Ouya travel car, a total of 102 vehicles;

From December 13, 2012 to September 29, 2014, some of the imported 2013-2015 Sent Travel Cars, a total of 593 vehicles;

Some of the 2012-2013 Golf convertible cars imported from February 21, 2012 to December 19, 2012, totaled 1,874 vehicles;

From January 23, 2014 to October 30, 2015, some imported 2015-2016 Up cars, a total of 1,795 vehicles;

From January 2, 2007 to May 12, 2015, a part of imported Kalaway vehicles from 2008 to 2015 were imported, totaling 1,891 vehicles;

From November 5, 2011 to November 7, 2015, some imported 2012-2016 Sharan cars, a total of 42,219 vehicles;

From the period of October 21, 2008 to December 28, 2011, a portion of imported 2009-2012 models of Volkswagen CC cars, a total of 4,208 vehicles were produced;

From May 12, 2009 to September 13, 2012, some of the imported 2010-2013 Aigu cars were produced, a total of 2,671 vehicles;

From October 11, 2010 to October 25, 2013, part of the imported 2011-2014 cross-border golf cars, a total of 10,486 vehicles;

From January 2, 2007 to July 10, 2015, some of the imported 2008-2015 models of the Metropolitan Multi-functional Commercial Vehicles (12,979 vehicles) were imported;

From July 10, 2012 to December 30, 2014, some of the imported MADRENG road vehicles of 2013-2015 were imported, totaling 3,280 vehicles;

From May 6, 2010 to January 7, 2015, some of the imported Magotan Tour sedan, 2010-2015, totaled 18,315 units.

(II) FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. (2,352,018 vehicles in total):

The new Bora 2008-2016 produced from July 21, 2008 to February 22, 2016 totaled 1,425,912 units;

Some of the 2006-2008 domestic Audi A4 produced from March 17, 2006 to September 18, 2008 totaled 46,777 vehicles;

The Audi A6L made in China from March 9, 2005 to August 14, 2012 totaled 619,686 vehicles.

Part of the 2010-2013 domestic Audi Q5 produced from November 29, 2009 to June 21, 2013 totaled 207,390 units.

From March 4, 2010 to February 26, 2013, a part of imported Audi A3 for 2010-2013 was imported, totaling 25,831 units;

From January 18, 2010 to November 21, 2011, some Audi A5s imported from 2010 to 2011 were produced, totaling 12,172 vehicles;

From July 1, 2009 to September 25, 2012, some Audi Q5s imported from 2010-2012 were imported, totaling 11,439 vehicles;

From February 5, 2015 to January 20, 2017, some of the imported Audi TTs for the 2015-2017 period totaled 2,681 units.

From April 18, 2016 to February 10, 2017, a part of imported Audi R8 for 2016-2017 was imported, for a total of 130 vehicles.

(III) SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. (2,404,438 vehicles in total):

Some of the 2006-2013 Santana 3000/Vista models produced from August 1, 2006 to September 11, 2013 totaled 332,019 vehicles;

Part of the 2007-2012 section of the Boro Jinqing/Jinchu vehicle produced from January 3, 2007 to June 3, 2012, totaling 365,622 vehicles;

A total of 892,923 units of the 2008-2013 Lam Yip vehicles manufactured from January 3, 2008 to December 30, 2013;

2008-2012 Passat new collar car produced from September 2, 2008 to October 14, 2012, a total of 281,482 vehicles;

Some of the 2008-2011 paragraphs of the 2008-2011 section of the Touran Automobile produced from November 10, 2008 to January 24, 2011 totaled 23,492 vehicles;

Part of the 2010-2011 Passat collar car produced from April 10, 2010 to September 10, 2011, totaling 14,110 vehicles;

The Baluoxin Jinchu Automobiles for 2010-2012 produced from November 23, 2010 to June 3, 2012 totaled 52,364 vehicles;

From January 2, 2011 to December 22, 2013, part of the new Langyi Automobiles for the period 2011-2013 totaled 391,832 units;

Some of the 2013 Longitude/Longview vehicles produced from March 28, 2013 to December 5, 2013 totaled 50,594 vehicles.

The airbags on the driver's seat or passenger's seat of some vehicles within the scope of this recall are equipped with an ammonium nitrate gas generator produced by Takata Corporation without desiccant. During the deployment of the airbag, the gas generator may be damaged, causing debris to fly out and injuring people in the vehicle. This poses a safety hazard. Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd., FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd., and SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. will replace the new models of driver or front passengers' frontal airbags or airbags for the vehicles within the recall scope in batches as planned. The recall was conducted under the condition that the AQSIQ initiated the defect investigation. Since June 2014, the defective product management center of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine carried out a defect investigation of the Takada airbag gas generator cracking problem and issued a safety reminder for consumers of Takata airbags. Since the beginning of this year, AQSIQ has repeatedly interviewed vehicle manufacturers including Volkswagen (China) Sales Co., Ltd., FAW-Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. and SAIC Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd. and requested them to take effective measures as soon as possible. Consumer safety. Affected by the investigation, the above three producers decided to take recall measures to eliminate potential safety hazards.
