Digging out the "Need for" Ming City Bricks on the Demolition Site of the Dormitory Building of Nanjing University

Yesterday, a Nanjing citizen warmly protected by cultural relics found a large number of scattered Ming City bricks on the demolition site near Shanghai Road, Nanjing University. What is even more commendable is that these bricks are rarely seen in wall tiles.

In the demolition site of the dormitory building of Nanjing University, I saw that the first building had already become a ruin. I had roughly counted the number. There were at least several hundred Mingcheng bricks distributed on this ruins, and each one was engraved with Inscriptions, some city bricks are engraved with the words "Yuanzhoufu" and the name of the artisan is also given below. The citizen of Nanjing, Mr. Wang, said that the inscription on this brick was transported from Yichun County of Yuanzhou Prefecture at that time. It was Ganzhou in Jiangxi Province, near Jingdezhen, and the mountains on the other side were all kaolin, so the brick of white color was in Nanjing. The wall tiles are "extreme" bricks.

The reporter immediately reflected this finding to the Nanjing City Wall Management Office and staff to the site. Next, the city bricks will be cleared one by one and recycled to the warehouse. Since these dormitory buildings were constructed during the same period, it is probable that several other unopened buildings also have a number of wall tiles. The person in charge of the Wall Management Office stated that the city bricks will be protected in advance during the next demolition to avoid vandalism.
