Dongfeng: Mass production of hybrid buses and electric light buses

As of the end of May 2007, the number of hybrid buses on the street in Wuhan reached 20, and electric buses reached 199. A total of 6,895,200 km of motor vehicles have been modelled and 10.83 million people have taken electric vehicles.

These new energy vehicles are all developed by Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd.

According to Xinfeng Xin, general manager of Dongfeng Electric Vehicle Co., Ltd., the company will also sell 100 hybrid buses this year. Not long ago, Dongfeng had 2 winning bids in bidding for 10 demonstration buses in Beijing.

"We believe that hybrid vehicles are a good transitional product. Dongfeng Hybrid Power Vehicles will take the path of combining high, medium and low gears. At present, Dongfeng Hybrid Power Bus has already achieved mass production and hybrid sedans are being developed as planned. "Jin Jixin told reporters.

In pure electric vehicles, Dongfeng electric light buses have sold nearly 5,000 vehicles. From January to June this year, more than 400 vehicles have been sold and it is expected to sell about 1,000 vehicles throughout the year. Dongfeng Company clearly pointed out in its development strategy that for a period of time, pure electric power is unlikely to become the mainstream direction of automobiles, but it is very suitable for operation in designated areas or for special purposes.

FAW Hybrid Bus is still at the R&D stage

It is understood that the “Liberal Brand Hybrid City Bus Research and Development” project undertaken by FAW Group is a major special funded project of the national “863” plan for electric vehicles. In the area of hybrid vehicle integration, control system development, components, and vehicle test capabilities, a series of scientific research results have been achieved. After four years of painstaking efforts, it completed the prototype development of the Jiefang brand hybrid bus, and trial-produced 7 vehicles, of which 2 have been put into demonstration operation in Changchun.

The relevant person of the First Automobile Research Institute told the reporter that the FAW hybrid bus has not yet achieved mass production. Although prototypes have already come out, there are many matching tests and performance debugging tasks to be done. All work is strictly in accordance with the progress of the national "863" plan. In general, FAW has basically possessed components and vehicle development capabilities for hybrid vehicles.

SAIC Hybrid and Fuel Cell Coupling

At the 2007 Shanghai International Auto Show, SAIC exhibited a hybrid sedan based on the Roewe 750 platform and a fourth-generation fuel cell sedan named “Shanghai”.

According to the plan, SAIC will begin production of its own brand hybrid cars in small batches before the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, and will simultaneously promote the research and development of joint-brand hybrid cars and buses. The Roewe Hybrid Sedan will be the first hybrid vehicle to be put into operation by SAIC. Before the 2010 World Expo, SAIC will start producing hybrid cars and passenger cars on a large scale, and small-scale fuel cell cars will begin to perform demonstration operations. According to the plan, in 2010 there will be 1,000 fuel cell vehicles in the Expo Park. The "Shanghai" brand fuel cell car will likely become the first domestic fuel cell vehicle for mass production.

Cao Jianrong, an electric vehicle researcher of SAIC's Engineering Research Institute, told reporters that SAIC started relatively late in new energy vehicles, but the pace was very solid.

SAIC is optimistic about the prospects of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. Cao Jianrong said: “Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles can achieve local zero emissions. From the perspective of energy conservation and environmental protection, it is a visible automotive solution in the future, but its development requires a process.

Changan listed the 2008 hybrid MPV

At the Beijing International Clean Energy Motor Show in November 2005, Changan Group exhibited a hybrid MPV. This model is currently named "CV11" and is a model jointly developed by Chang'an Europe R & D Center and China with independent intellectual property rights. In January 2006, Changan proposed to put the vehicle into mass production before the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

According to Zhou Qin, Director of Publicity Division of Changan Group, after the hybrid MPV model is on the market, it will use the existing Changan sedan's network for sales. Last year, Changan established a Changan sedan sales network. The first car sold on the network was Changan Benben.

Changan's industrialization of hybrid vehicles will be carried out in two steps: first, starting with mild hybrid vehicles, and after the market matures, developing hybrid and severe hybrid vehicles. “Taking into account the actual situation in the Chinese market, we launched a mild hybrid vehicle in 2008. Chang’an Mild Hybrid MPV can save energy by 20%, while the cost only increases by about 10%. While consumers in China save energy and protect the environment, We are very concerned about the cost of acquisition. If we want to launch a medium or heavy hybrid vehicle, we can also produce it immediately, but the cost will rise sharply and it is not suitable for Chinese consumers." Zhou Qin told reporters.

Like Dongfeng and FAW hybrid vehicles, the Changan hybrid vehicle is the first group to announce into the National Development and Reform Commission. At present, Changan’s national “863” project has passed the acceptance check of the key nodes of the relevant departments.

Chery focuses on the development of hybrid, pure electric and flexible fuel vehicles

“Chery is taking the path of development of a variety of new energy technologies that go hand in hand. At present, our research focuses on hybrid, pure electric and flexible fuel vehicles. However, there are no specific timetables for industrialization.” Chery’s Public Relations Section Manager Wang Wei said.

According to reports, at this year's Shanghai Auto Show, Chery launched the Chery A5BSG with a Chery A5 as a platform, a hybrid power system, a new bio-diesel-powered model V5, and a B11 with a matching fuel cell power system.

The Chery A5BSG is a parallel-type weak hybrid car that uses a belt drive for power mixing and the engine is connected in parallel with the motor and transmission. According to different vehicle operating conditions, the motor can work in three modes of idle, power generation and start-up, optimizing the motor system efficiency, reducing fuel consumption and reducing emissions.

V5 is based on Ruiqi 2 and matches biodiesel engines. The raw material of biodiesel is cheap, renewable, and fundamentally free from the dependence on oil. Second, biodiesel does not emit sulfur dioxide when it is burned, and the harmful gas emitted is reduced by about 70% compared with petroleum, and can be fully degraded.

Chery Automobile Research Institute is currently responsible for the development of new energy vehicles. Chery's investment in research and development, each year to reach 10% of sales, of which new energy vehicles R & D investment accounted for a large proportion.
