Comparative analysis of contact strength of variable length gear transmission The comparison of the contact strength of the newly designed variable length gear transmission and involute gear transmission is carried out under the conditions that the gear material, heat treatment and load working conditions are exactly the same. The experimental results show that the former is at least 3.3 times the contact strength of the latter. The experimental two-stage involute gear transmission is mainly the maximum induced curvature of the two pairs of involute gears (also called the comprehensive curvature), which is obtained according to the known calculation formula of the involute tooth surface curvature. The contact strength of the newly designed variable length linear gear transmission is about 3-4 times that of the involute gear transmission of the same type. This conclusion is consistent with the experimental results. We have designed two new variable length gear reducers for the rolling mill of Wuhan Iron and Steel Company, replacing the involute gear transmission imported from Germany. The original drive needs to be replaced with new spare parts for half a year, after adopting the newly designed variable length gear transmission. When the work reaches the third year, the work stops due to the shaft breakage, and at this time, the tooth surface is bright and there is no pitting corrosion, which indicates that the industrial application situation is consistent with the analysis conclusion of this paper.
Based on the calculation of the main curvature induced by the tooth surface of the variable length line, the contact strength of the newly designed variable length gear transmission and the involute gear transmission is compared and analyzed.
